We collect information for marketing purposes such as sending newsletters and press releases. We use third-party tools to manage your data such us Ninja Form (read their Privacy Policy) and Mailchimp (read their Privacy Policy).

What rights you have over your data

If you submitted information on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

The three foundations behind the Daylight Award are joint controllers in respect of the processing of personal data about you. The three foundations are:

The point of contact for all three foundations are The Velux Foundations (VILLUM FONDEN and VELUX FONDEN).

The three foundations have entered into an agreement about joint controllership as required by the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 General Data Protection Regulation) and have agreed that the Velux Foundations will handle questions and all matters pertaining to data processing.

 

Personal data and sources

We process the following personal data about you:

Identification information, including name, occupation, address, telephone number and e-mail address.

All data is or has been found from publicly available sources such as social media (Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo), the website of your workplace, etc.

 

Purpose and legal basis

The purpose and legal bases under EU law for our processing of your personal data are as follows:
As nonprofit foundations, we process personal data about you based on our legitimate interests in exposing the Daylight Award to individuals, companies and organizations, which we have assessed will find the showcasing video interesting, among other things, because they could be eligible for the award, cf. Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

 

Categories of recipients

We do not disclose your personal data to any third parties except for data processors who process personal data on our behalf, e.g. storage providers or mailing providers.

 

Transfers no Non-EU/EEA countries

We do not transfer your personal data to any third countries except for Switzerland in which VELUX Stiftung is established. The European Commission has decided that Switzerland is a country which by law and practices provides an adequate level of protection of data subjects.

 

Retention

Personal data about you are stored for as long as necessary for the purposes of the processing, including as long as we have a legitimate interest in having you on the list of recipients which we have assessed will find the showcasing videos interesting.
We will make an annual assessment of whether we find it necessary to continue to process personal data about you.

 

Your rights

Your rights are the following:

  • Right of access: You are entitled to access the personal data processed and certain additional information. However, the right of access must not infringe other persons’ rights and rights of freedom.
  • Right to rectification: You are entitled to have incorrect personal data rectified.
  • Right to be forgotten: In special situations, you are entitled to have personal data deleted before our general deletion takes place.
  • Right to restrict processing: In certain situations, you are entitled to have the processing of your personal data restricted. If you are entitled to such restricted processing, we may only process your personal data – except for storage – with your consent, for the purpose of establishing, exercising or defending a legal claim or to protect a person or important public interests.
  • Right to object: In certain situations, you are entitled to object to our legal processing of your personal data. E.g. we will immediately stop sending messages to us if you notify us that you do not want to receive showcasing videos.

 

The rights described above may be subject to further conditions and restrictions.

If you make use of any of your rights as described above, we also process personal data relating to handling the inquiry. If there is doubt about your identity, we may request more information necessary to confirm your identity. In handling such inquiries, we will process personal data based on our legitimate interests in complying with legislation, cf. article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
